This is a photograph of a girl dressed for a Halloween party at a local bar I used to frequent.

5. How does this old photo make you feel?

When I look at this photo, I can't believe how terrible the lighting is, and yet it made me so happy. I took this at the beginning of my photography career. This was my first documentary project and I remember struggling with the low light but refusing to switch to digital.

6. Is this what you expected to see?

I didn't expect to see these images. I worked on this project for some time and I didn't realize I had missed a roll.

7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?

The memories I associate with this photo are mixed. I was just starting to photograph so I was nervous but eager to experiment. I spent all my free nights at this bar snapping photographs of people that interested me. I met so many people at this bar that I still keep in touch with. I was ready to learn, ready to meet people, ready to go home with anyone that asked. I was so uncertain back then but incredibly happy.

8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?

I think when others see this photograph they can see the newness. Poor composition and lighting but there's something there that my younger self saw in this woman.
