1. When was this photo taken?
2. Where was this photo taken?
Cranbrook Academy, Bloomfield Hills, MI
3. Who took this photo?
S. Kay Young
4. What are we looking at here?
Majestic trees in the forest on the grounds of Cranbrook Campus. The double tree in the foreground was very large and beautiful. Looking up into the top of the trees with this lens takes away the illusion of size and space. The leaves look as though they are painted, not attached, with a mysterious dark bottom of the image.
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
Happy for those moments with the elder trees. Honored that I continue to photograph them as well as long for their companionship.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
No expectations but delighted to see that beautiful, silver grain not produced by Photoshop. Surprised that I am still shooting beautiful, large trees exclusively.
7. Does this photo bring back any memories?
My memories wander to the perfect days spent with friends and family no longer here. It also made me think of the very large tree nearby that was split in half by lighting and the red tailed hawks that sit and hunt in the top of the trees.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
My hope would be for the viewers to remember times spent in the comfort of trees. Also, to get out in a park and be quiet with them. Lastly, a response to help protect our environment in this time of destruction and disregard for the importance of a clean world.
