1. When was this photo taken?
1999
2. Where was this photo taken?
Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania
3. Who took this photo?
J. Jeff Ungar (myself)
4. What are we looking at here?
This image is of our much-beloved cat "Gus-Gus" (1998-2017). Like his composer namesake, Gustav Mahler, he was truly one of the greats! "Gus is people," we'd always say, and his outsized personality really shines in this photo. What a treasure to see him again appearing in these lost rolls! "May your symphony continue to play on, Gus-Gus!"
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
We lost Gus in 2017 and this photo brings a welcome tear of remembrance to our eyes! #lostrolls #feelinggrateful #sweetnostalgia
6. Is this what you expected to see?
I had no idea what was on the roll when I mailed it in. It had been kicking around in an old shoebox filled with miscellaneous clutter for many years. I only remembered it when I heard about the Lost Rolls America project during a lecture at Penn State.
7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?
It brings back a flood of early memories of Gus from when we first rescued him in the summer of 1999. He quickly won our hearts, such an amazing cat! This image is helping us heal after losing him in 2017.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
I know one of the last things the world needs right now is another 'cat photo' -- but Gus was not just a cat to us: he was a friend, a companion, a true member of the family. I hope people smile when they see this quirky picture of him.
