3. Who took this photo?
4. What are we looking at here?
My parents were visiting my family. My daughter had not seen her grandparents for a year and a half and was very excited to show them everything, including her sewing skills. Here, my mom shows her the steps on how to make a cushion, from pattern to the actual sewing.
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
My heart is bursting, seeing my mom and my daughter share a passion. However, it does make me a little sad too, because they're separated by an ocean and don't get to see each other on a regular basis.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
No, as I'd forgotten that I'd actually captured this scene on film. I remember being secretly thrilled that my mom and daughter were sewing together but in the pre-dinnertime frenzy, I don't remember taking the picture.
7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?
I'm reminded of my parents' last visit and the excitement that my kids had, seeing and hanging out with their grandparents. That said, my parents are due to visit again in the coming weeks and there is the same level of excitement bubbling in the house here.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
I think some people might be able to relate, particularly if they're in the same boat and are living far from their families. I'd like to think that this image resonates with those who might feel sentimental about their own relationships with their parents.
