1. When was this photo taken?
I believe it was taken in July 2004
2. Where was this photo taken?
Just north of Lijiang, China, Yunnan Provence: Jade Dragon Snow Mountains
3. Who took this photo?
4. What are we looking at here?
One of the peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountains
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
Happy to be reminded of an opportunity I never thought I would have and to immediately be able to recall/feel the excitement of seeing the clouds clear to give us a view of one of the peaks.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
This is what we hoped to see but were not expecting to because of the dense cloud cover.
7. Does this photo bring back any memories?
I remember hiking in the high altitude. It wasn't a rugged hike although a bit rocky, however the altitude made it strenuous. I hiked with my nose to the ground and when we reached a point where we thought the peaks might be visible I looked up just at the moment the clouds cleared a view to this mountain top. I quickly took a photo and wasn't sure what I captured until I saw this image.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
Well, this is certainly not a National Geographic photo but I hope people will recognize in it the universal experience of trying to capture a moment in each of our lives when something exciting and unexpected happens, fleeting as it may be. It's a rather ordinary photo of a wonderful personal experience. I can still feel it.
