1. When was this photo taken?
December 2015
2. Where was this photo taken?
Centerville, Massachusetts at my father's house
3. Who took this photo?
Rachael Crossley
4. What are we looking at here?
This is a photo abstraction of my father's living room on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. My eye was drawn to this subject because of the natural light in my fathers house that I adore so much and love to bask in on his living room couch. This photo captures the sun light that creates sharp reflections off his glass coffee table and the really beautiful cast shadows on the drapes and walls.
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
It makes me remember the love and appreciation I have for my father and respect his role as my care-giver during my childhood. Thanks dad for putting a roof over my head and comforting me throughout my life.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
No! I forgot that I was marveling at the corners of my fathers house that are so beautifully lit up during the day time by a big bay window in his living room and the antiques on his mantel that bounce light beautifully throughout the room.
7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?
It brings back memories of living with my father when I was younger. It makes me think of him and appreciate his home and the stability he has provided for me.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
I think others may be confused at what they are looking at first because of the way I have abstractly composed the photograph and the space. But that is why I chose the photo because one must look more deeply into the image and search more intimately for the discovery of what is captured. Take a second or third glance at the image to make out what it is or use your imagination to create your own interpretation of the domestic forms. I appreciate an intimate response to my photography.
