1. When was this photo taken?
2. Where was this photo taken?
Bethesda, MD at my parents house
3. Who took this photo?
4. What are we looking at here?
My mother is taking a nap with one of our cats Blondie
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
A nice time down memory lane. How a little animal can bring love to a family and create a bond. I grew up with this cat and its siblings and saw them born and sadly die. How a little cat just wants and gives unconditional love.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
I had no idea what was on this film. I was a little scarred that it was an important assignment that I was hired to photograph and lost an important roll for a client or project. Thankfully this was an important roll found that had deep personal images. Most of this roll is of my family and our pets. My grandmother has since passed as our cats also so this was a nice surprise to see this roll.
7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?
I remember watching the kittens being born and as a kid this was the first time I had seen anything been born so it was an eye opening experience. I had graduated from college and moved back in with my parents to freelance in the Washington DC area. My career had just started so I remember the confidence I was getting starting to freelance for the Washington Post and others. It was the first time I was making a significant amount of money and living at home. Within a year I had left Washington to purse a staff newspaper position out of state. This time frame was the last time I was living at home with parents other than just visiting so it has special meaning especially since my mother is turning 81 this year and her health is not as good.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
Remind them of their loved-ones if it be a family member or a pet. We sometimes take for granted that they will always will be there.
