2. Where was this photo taken?
Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY
3. Who took this photo?
Vivan Cary Jenkins
4. What are we looking at here?
My Rottweiler, Lady, a gentle soul. Toddlers in Prospect Park took rides on her back and our UPS driver took her on his route around the neighborhood. She was rescued in Seattle and swam daily from our house on Puget Sound. She came cross-country to Brooklyn and adapted well to the smells of the city and the excitement of making friends with dogs, cats and people.
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
My memories of Lady fill me with joy and sadness. When I look at this photo I think back of the long walks we took together. It was during these walks that I figured out difficult problems, enjoyed the beauty of the neighborhood and made plans for the future. And when I look at her picture I think of all the times she provided the emotional support no one else could. This photo makes me feel lucky to have had Lady in my life.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
I had no idea what I would see.
7. Does this photo bring back any memories?
A plethora of memories. All good. See previous answer.
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
Those that knew Lady will feel sad that she is no longer with us and happy to have known her. Her name and memories of her interactions with loved ones comes up frequently. Others who may fear or have negative feelings about Rottweilers may reconsider. A loving breed that is misunderstood.
