Deb Klein 01
1. When was this photo taken?
If I had to guess, I'd say around 2007.
2. Where was this photo taken?
I believe this was in DUMBO
3. Who took this photo?
I took the photo
4. What are we looking at here?
This dude had knitted himself all up. In true New York fashion, most people barely glanced his way. I never knew what the little girl was pointing to, but I found it interesting that he was standing right in front of her, and she seems to be occupied with something else.
5. How does this old photo make you feel?
Really, this to me feels like so many aspects of NY rolled into one brief moment! Eccentric, diverse, crowded, interesting, colorful, iconic.
6. Is this what you expected to see?
Not sure, since I had no idea what was on the film. But I am so happy to see this, and actually personally love the image.
7. What kind of memories does this photo bring back?
My favorite thing to do is take pictures in the city, pretty much solely digital now. When I see this, I remember taking out my plastic Diana camera (that this was taken with) and hoping for the best and knowing it would look interesting no matter what, just by virtue of the unknown quality of the camera itself, with its plastic lens. (Hence the purple light leaks).
8. How do you think others will respond to this photo?
Not sure, but maybe a bit of a laugh because of the moment it captures, and the composition...
